It was the low point of the year for the A Grade losing to the bottom side. Not much to say about this game, the result says it all.
The B grade on the other hand finished top for the year and now prepare for the qualifying final.

The finals hopes of the A grade were ended on the weekend with their first lost to a side who finished below them on the ladder. The A grade were disappointing against a much hungrier Greenacres and paid the price.
The B grade took back top spot with a convincing win. Amazingly the boys kept their third clean sheet of the year, a sure sign that everyone is pulling their weight and working hard for each other.
A Grade
Elizabeth 11.10 76 def Kenilworth 11.07 73
B Grade
Elizabeth 13.06 84 def Kenilworth 06.04 40
The Eagles had their longest road trip of the season travelling to St Marys Oval to play Kenilworth. The A grade had to win to maintain any chance of finals while the B grade had to win continue the fight for top spot.
After trailing for the entire second half the A grade got out of jail when they kicked the last goal of the day to record a 3 point win . It was another below par performance but a win all the same keeping the season alive even if hanging by a thread.
The B grade were extremely undermanned but fought solidly against Kenilworth who started the day third on the ladder. The B grade have slipped to second by percentage only but with 2 of the bottom three sides remaining should rectify that and finish on top.
This weekend sees the last home games for the club. Both sides require a big wins this week and we could use all the support we can muster.
A Grade
Elizabeth 13.16 94 def Smithfield 12.08 80
B Grade
Elizabeth 20.18 138 def Smithfield 05.07 37
The Eagles faced their fiercest rival Smithfield at home and came away with two excellent wins.
The A grade kept their slim finals hopes alive with a magnificent performance. The first half was a very tight tussle but the Eagles blew the game open in the third quarter running Smithfield ragged. Only inaccurate kicking by Elizabeth and late goals to Smithfield made the result appear close. As a bonus the win knocked Smithfield off top spot! Congratulations to Darren "Silver Fox" Ellis who played his 250th senior game.
The B grade were simply too good all day winning every quarter. The use of the football was excellent especially in the first half and the dominance was reflected on the scoreboard. Steve Johnson lead the way in his 200th game for the club his first half in particular was outstanding.
A special thank you to Mick Elliot for his generous contribution to the celebrations. Mick is a passionate member of the club and loves nothing more than beating the team from down the road! Thanks also to Terry Williams for his contribution.

The A Grade have now left there destiny in the hands of other teams relying on losses by those above them to have any chance.
The B Grade faced one of its rivals for the flag and came out on top against Adelaide Lutheran for the second time this year. The boys now sit atop the B Grade ladder and are gathering momentum for the finals.

Round 13 ended up being a percentage booster for Elizabeth with both Grades coming
away with more than comfortable wins.
The A Grade played the first three quarters against Brahma Lodge but switched off in the last. Fortunately the lead built was more than sufficient to get over the line. The A Grade came out victors by 64 points which could have been much larger without the fourth quarter fade out.
The B Grade again showed why they are favourites for the flag with a 231 point win. The B Grade also managed to keep Brahma Lodge scoreless at their home ground which made it even sweeter. If the Reserves keep going as they are, no side in the division should come close.
This week the Eagles take on Adelaide Lutheran at the South Parklands. Like every week, it is a must win for the A Grade and another opportunity for the B Grade to prove their dominance of the league.
From the A Grade coach...
We travelled to Brahma Lodge to win and we did. A slow start was inevitable as the size of the oval
leads to congested playing conditions.
The game was set up in the first three quarters and we allowed Brahma to outscore us in the last. In reality the win is what we needed.
Strings continued his good form with good efforts from Magic and Tayls contributing 5 goals a piece. A good first up game from Chris Clancy and another consistent performance from Lee also helped get us over the line.
Adelaide Lutheran must be beaten this week as we strive to stay within touch of the 5. A concerted effort from all players is important as we only have 20 quarters of footy left before we know if we compete in the finals.
Well done again to Prossers team.
Wayne Hughes
From the B Grade coach...
All played well last week, which showed on the score board. The backline were tight and the forward
line scored freely.
Toby was good up forward and had a lot of other guys chipping in. Millsy started well but unfortunately went down in the first quarter with injury.
We have a real test this week against Adelaide Lutheran in a game that we must win.

A round the A Grade would rather do over while the B Grade go on their merry way.
The A Grade played in a tough low scoring slog where inaccurate kicking once again proved costly.
Revenge was on the cards for the Seniors as Plympton beat them on a similar day in Round 3. Unfortunately it did not happen and the boys were beaten by an agonising 2 points.
This loss makes it very hard for the A Grade to make the finals. Nothing lessthan perfect results from here on in could snag a Finals spot.
Alternatively, the B Grade have notched up another win, making it 10 for the season.
The B Grade easily beat Plympton Reserves by 7 goals. If the Reserves continue the way they have, top position will be theirs.
Brahma Lodge this week at their dodgy oval. Lets all get down and support the boys and urge them on to a win.
From the A Grade coach...
Our season is now on the line. If we are good enough we will make the finals, simple maths
says that we can not afford to drop another game.
I believe we are good enough, lets see what self belief the players have. Against Plympton it was a real arm wrestle. Good wet weather efforts from Justin (Guns), Lee (Eel), Quilly and Colin Harrison were not enough to get that last goal.
The 2 games we have lost by less than a kick may come back to haunt us. Lets focus on the next game and get that winning feeling.
Wayne Hughes
From the B Grade coach...
Another strong effort from the boys especially in such bad conditions.
The backline were very good again keeping the opposition to not much once again.
Mentions go to Millsy and Gazza for their great wet weather footy and the backline as a whole have worked all year.
Finals are getting closer and we have to be ready for them. See you all on the track.

There were ups and downs at the oval on a hill with the B Grade getting up against Fitzroy
and the A Grade missing out on the two points.
The A Grade were beaten early in the game having given the opposition too much of a head start. When the guys started to play it was a tough task to get back.
The boys fought hard in the second half but still ended up losing by 19 points.
The B Grade again showed why they top the Reserves ladder. They went out and made light work of Fitzroy Reserves doubling their score. Toby continues to be a focal point up forward and assisted the side to a 44 point win.
This week the Eagles play at home against Plympton. It is very much a must win game. The B Grade need to keep their momentum going and the A Grade need to get back to the winners circle to become a serious Finals threat.
From the A Grade coach...
Well it happened...we finally forgot that 30 minutes of football does not always win
games.
To Fitzroys credit they played well. They did what we were doing, first to the ball and wanted to win every contest. To our credit we got within striking distance in the last quarter only to let it slip with some unforced errors.
Good games again by Switty and Troy and a consistent effort by Foldesdy were the main highlights.
Lets get back to the basics and do what we do best and that is winning.
Wayne Hughes
From the B Grade coach...
Another good effort apart from the slow start. The Backline was solid all day as usual and Paradiso enjoyed a
full run for a change.
It was a good result beating Fitzroy as they are meant to be a finals contender. All players have to put their hand up on the track and when they get their opportunity.

Another local derby confronted the Eagles coming up against long time foes Central United. With a cup riding on the result of this round the boys wanted to get some payback for Round 1. Fortunately both grades were too good for their opponents, both coming out victors.
The A Grade did it very comfortably all game until the last quarter when they let United peg a few back. What should have been a 10 goal plus win ended up only a three goal victory, but a win is a win.
The B Grade only just beat United reserves in the first round so this time they did not even give them a sniff. The B grade held their opposition to only 16 points and accumulated 88 points themselves. This gave them a 72 point win.
This week we head down to Fitzroy to continue on our winning way. The more support the better. So all supporters and friends get down to Fitzroy and urge on the Mighty Eagles!!!
From the A Grade coach...
We had to win against the Units to keep in touch with the top teams. We did. All players contributed to a good team effort.
Josh Wittwer won the Gubby Medal and it was well deserved. Lee and Switty also performed well with Donga, Millsy and big Darryl playing very great games.
We are now in the position of having a great shot at the title and will need total focus until the end of September to achieve this. I have probably failed to use the bench as other coaches do but ask that all players accept that, Players win touches the team wins games and the club wins premierships. Please take responsibility to assisting in this effort.
Wayne Hughes
From the B Grade coach...
It was a good effort by all the guys especially the backline, keeping United to only 16 points.
Everyone contributed with both Mark Laundy and Josh Rowlands having great games. We need to take this form into this weeks game against Fitzroy to ensure our strong position coming into the back end of the season.
See you all at training.

A good weekend for much needed percentage building with both sides winning by big margins.
The A Grade made light work of bottom of the ladder dwelling Glenunga. The guys won by a comfortable 14 goals playing less than their best footy. Trent was a good focal point up forward and Stringer took control of the back lines.
The B Grade absolutely pummeled Glenunga at Argana Park. They held the opposition to and one single point and kicked a score of 186 themselves. Toby matched Trent' efforts up forward also kicking 8 goals.
This week is as big as they come playing Central United at our home ground. This is a must win for both sides as the B grade only just fell over the line in Round 1 and the A Grade have a point to prove after failing in their previous encounter.
From the A Grade coach...
All games are must wins and this was no exception. We go into the second round of matches with a 5/4 win loss ratio which puts us right in the mix. All games are must wins to set up a shot at the title.
Against Glenunga Strings got back to his best with Reeky playing his best game since joining the Elizabeth. Again Trent showed his value with 8 goals. Donga continued on his merry way with another strong performance. The Wittwer duo also continued to impress.
It is a must that the whole playing group is switched on against the Units and pay back is due. Good luck to Pross and his team as I would expect that they would be looking at no more losses for the season.
Wayne Hughes
From the B Grade coach...
We played a very ordinary mob and we made them look even worse. We were very consistent all over the ground.
Our discipline maintaining our forward line structure was excellent throughout despite the extra numbers in our forward lines. The guys did not crowd the forward lines, which can be very easy to do against crap opposition.
Good work guys and lets take it into this week.

Another pleasing week for the Elizabeth Eagles with both Grades getting up against Greenacres on a cold but fortunately dry day
The A Grade went down to the prison and the boys were given a run for their money. After a hard fought game they ended up winning by 34 points. An end result that did not reflect the closeness of the game.
The B Grade made light work of their opponents, smashing them by 90 points. The guys shared the goals around with 11 individual goal kickers but unfortunately inaccurate kicking haunted the B grade again.
This week both Grades should be looking forward to the challenge against Glenunga at Argana Park. Going by results both sides should be confident and with the bye should feel refreshed and ready to play.
From the A Grade coach...
As with every week this was a must win! After a fairly ordinary first half we got our game together to run away in the last quarter.
Once we begin to have a belief in each other we will see how good we can be.
All players contributed. Special mentions should go to Millsy, BJ and young Josh Wittwer as they combined to form an impressive forward line, capable of kicking winning scores. Again the reliable trio of Switty, Eel and Guns kept us in the game when things were tough. Darnel showed why they call him Magic as he produced his best game of the season.
The season is set up nicely for us and the very simple formula to move into the next division is to continue to win Hope all had a good break and lets focus on Glenunga for our next win.
Great to see the B Grade win well and keep the pressure on for spots.
Wayne Hughes
From the B Grade coach...
A lot better effort than previous weeks but we let ourselves down in front of goal, kicking 18 behinds.
The forward lines have to start kicking goals. The guys were looking forward to the bye and hopefully it helps to get us a settled side heading into the second half of the season.
If you want a spot, get out to training and take your opportunity when you get it!

Another weekend came to a close with one win and one loss. This time it was the A Grade getting up and the B Grade being beaten.
The A Grade put in a 3 quarter effort that proved enough to beat old foes Kenilworth at Agarna Park. The boys defeated the opposition by 23 points in a pleasing performance. The usual suspects played well and were assisted by some good cameos.
The B Grade unfortunately went down by an agonising 2 points. In a match where the guys had more than double the scoring shots of their opposition the 2 point loss was very frustrating.
This week the Eagles travel up to the prison to play against Greenacres in a must win game. The B grade need to get back on their winning way and the A grade need this to give themselves a chance to get back into the top 3 at the end of the year.
From the A Grade coach...
The A grade needed to win this week after a pretty ordinary performance the week before. To the players credit they did and apart from the 3rd Quarter, they out played Kenilworth.
We had a good blend of youth and experience with the Wittwer father and son duo both contributing. Switty, Eel and Platts again combining well to provide plenty of ball for the players down field.
Again the backline held up and with Casey fitting nicely into the back provided plenty of run.
We still need to work hard on our forward line structure to fully utilize Magic and Toby and when we do, then watch out competition. It is a must that we go into the last round with more wins than losses allowing us to give the final 3 a major crack.
Thanks again to the fridge for barking instructions as my runner. Lets hope Prossers boys regroup after a couple of downers as we need them firing to continue putting pressure on.
Wayne Hughes
From the B Grade coach...
The guys dominated possession all game but couldn't finish the good work off. Goal kicking practice is definitely needed.
Most players did well but could not finish off. We need to get more guys to training. Do not let the cold weather scare you off. See you all at training.

There were two games the Club would rather forget last week. Both sides went down to Smithfield and played some ordinary footy in some ordinary conditions. Wind and rain made it a tough day for football and both Grades made it look even tougher.
The A Grade could not follow up its previous win and lost to Smithfield by 57 points. The game was within reach even up until 3 quarter time but the revival did not happen.
The B Grade went down for the first time this season. They were defeated by 30 points in a low scoring game. Hopefully the Reserves can get back on their winning way this week and last week will just be seen as a minor hiccup.
The A grade also really need to dig deep this week to get over rivals Kenilworth.
From the A Grade coach...
It was pointed out that if we were to go in with the wrong attitude against Smithfield the previous week would be worth nothing.
Unfortunately the A grade let themselves down and were well beaten. Footy is a game that you can go from highs to lows from one result.
We will rebound and come out stronger, as I am sure the players thought the corner had turned and forgot that you have to work harder to stay at a high standard.
Best again was the very consistent group of Donga, Lee, Strings and Switty.
The backline were under immense pressure and had to work extremely hard again.
A big effort is needed to end the round with no more losses so that we can set the second round up for a final 3 position.
Wayne Hughes
From the B Grade coach...
On face value, a very ordinary performance but it is only early in the season. It was good to see some pressure on us for four quarters for the first time which showed who could and could not handle it.
We are looking forward to turning it back around next week. Hopefully I will see everyone on the track this week so we can have a full squad to pick from.

Two out of two again for the Elizabeth Eagles, this time against top of the table Adelaide Lutheran.
Both Grades got up at home this week with great efforts all round.
The A Grade started confidently with the game pretty even at quarter time. The guys lapsed during the second quarter allowing Lutheran to get a 5 goal lead at half time. The A's rallied together and pegged back the margin and in the end took the points with a 27 point victory.
The B Grade went on their merry way defeating their closest opponent in the league by 47 points. The guys continue to impress and will look to repeat their effort against Smithfield this week.
It'll be two huge games this week with across the road rivals Smithfield eager to knock us off. Support from the sidelines is truly needed this week so please get down to Smithfield and cheer the Eagles!
From the A Grade coach...
The A grade needed to win this week to keep in touch with the main group.
Adelaide Lutheran had been the trend setters and this was a big ask.
Given the importance of the game all our players gave their all to take it out by 4 goals.
Our last half showed real Elizabeth character coming from 5 goal down at half time, especially having made the mistake of back chatting an umpire we knew would make it difficult. The group dug deep into the belief in each other and got within 1 point at three quarter time.
Strings showed me that he can mix it with the best. Donga again is improving each week. Switty is taking the senior role to another level and Darnell showed why they call him magic with some great passages of play. I could name all 21 players as they all contributed and as we agreed after the match anything short of this standard is unacceptable.
Special mention to Nigel our wondering Policeman! We wish him all the best in Millicent and his last quarter effort will be remembered as to how he can play. He will be a great asset to the Millicent Saints.
Again well done to Prosser's team, it is important that they keep the pressure on the A grade to perform.
Wayne Hughes
From the B Grade coach...
For a top of the table clash it was a very one sided game. All the guys played well, which was even more pleasing because there were no passengers.
We can't get carried away with our success so far. We need to take it just one week at a time!

the wrap
The weekend ended with 2 wins on the board at last. The B Grade started the day well and the A Grade finished it positively.
The A Grade had its first win on the weekend against Brahma Lodge. They started very well in the first quarter but let
themselves down with an ordinary second quarter. The guys dug deep and finally came out on top by 13 points.
The B Grade once again showed the league how good they are by keeping the opposition scoreless for the entire match. The reserves won by 174 points against Brahma Lodge. Hopefully this week both teams can get up for a win against the league leaders Adelaide Lutheran. If both teams get up it will hold them in good stead for the rest of the season. So supporters get down and get loud!!!
From the A Grade coach...
Finally a win. A game that we had to win started well, but we then went back to our old ways in the 2nd quarter
almost blowing our opportunity.
The positive to come from the game was that we finished the game off with a confident final 15 minutes of football that we can take into next week. We had several players pull out due to injury giving an opportunity to others.
Once again Kingy stood up with efforts from Lee Hughes, Donga and a great captains second half from Switty showing the way. Trent Greenshields again proved a focal point in the forward lines with 8 goals, also a special mention to Millsy, Gunny and Hyatt for their efforts in the forward lines.
Again we haven't put a full game together and I suggest this isn't too far away. Well done again to Prosser's boys!
Wayne Hughes
From the B Grade coach...
A very good team effort against very poor opposition. The boys stuck to the team play for most of the day.
We were very well served by the likes of Blake Pearce, BJ and Hilly who are all looking for their spots back in the A Grade.
Also the new man mountain Toby at Full Forward kicking 6 goals was great on the weekend!
The B Grade should be really looking forward to the challenge of Adelaide Lutheran this week.

the wrap
The last three weeks have gone the same way. The B Grade have kept on their winning way while the A Grade
haven't been able to get a win on the board.
The A Grade Played at Plympton, against Plympton and unfortunately went down for the third week in a row. The A's were beaten by 23 points in a miserable day with torrential rain and strong winds.
The B Grade have been on fire, even in the bucketing rain they were able to kick over 100 points in the game. The B's beat Plympton reserves by 110 points. The A Grade could probably take some tips off of the way the B's played.
From the A Grade coach...
A familiar pattern has emerged where we play 5-10 minutes of football and only just get beaten. We must turn this around.
An increase of 10% in each players efforts will result in this turnaround starting this week against an old foe in Brahma Lodge.
Again Justin Platten led by example with great efforts from Donga and Darren Ellis in a welcome return to the Senior side. Trent Greenshields is the shining light in the forward lines and again contributed on the score board.
The back lines do their job each week and hopefully this week we can kick the required amount of goals to result in a win.
Keep the heads high as we are not far away.
Wayne Hughes
From the B Grade coach...
The guys kicked an excellent score considering the terrible conditions. Although, the score could have been bigger if we
had kicked straight but that could be excused due to the conditions.
It was a genuine slog in the difficult conditions and a special mention goes to the backline for holding Plympton down. Another special mention goes to Blake who dominated in his first full run for the season.
Well done to all the boys and lets do it again this week.

the wrap...
The second round once again got off to a good start but ended disappointingly. The B Grade once more performed
well when the A Grade couldn't. Both sides played at home against Fiztroy who come down from Division 4 after last season.
Unfortunately for the A Grade Fitzroy ended up on top after the final siren by just 3 points. The effort from the boys was better this week
but still didn't show the potential within the group.
The B Grade again got the day off to a good start with a 40 point win. It was excellent to see some of the young guys put their hand up again and show more of the skill that helped them win last week.
From the A Grade coach...
A big effort was required to bounce back from last weeks poor showing. Although we failed by 3 points the effort was much more
shared, rather than relying on only a few. We have introduced several new players to the club this year and it will take time for them to
settle and for others to know how they play. This is not an excuse though and it is very important we get the points against Plympton.
Craig Gurskis was given a job to stop a prolific goal kicker and did this well. Jackos played as Jacko can and Kingy again did his work. Quilly at CHB for his first game with the Eagles showed that he will be a great asset and Lee again can dominate. It was good to see Nugget back on the park.
The turning point cam when Justin was injured and the disappointing part was that we didn't step up and win the contest.
Again well done to Prosser's team!
Wayne Hughes
From the B Grade coach...
It was another good win but one that could've been bigger. Our last half fade out let Fitzroy peg back the deficit. We should've won
by 10 to 15 goals. In the end I think it came down to lack of fitness.
It was good to have Central boys Josh Wittwer and Sam Daly in the side as they both played well. Along with those two Kyle Young again performed well kicking 4 goals.
To get better we all need to train. So I look forward to seeing more guys on the track.

the wrap
The first Saturday of the 2007 season got off to a good start with the B Grade pulling off a brave win against
Central United. Unfortunately the A Grade couldn't continue the great start as they were beaten in a disappointing display away
from home. The A Grade played Central United who didn't look like a better side but the way our guys played most teams would have
beaten us. The scoreboard makes the loss look worse as most of the game was played with only couple of goals separating the two sides. It
wasn't until the final quarter that the guys let the opposition kick away, increasing the margin to 7 goals by the final siren.
The B Grade on the other hand came away with a good win, showing some good signs for the season ahead. The B Grade
ended up victors by 14 points with some promising signs.
From the A Grade coach...
Round 1 didn't go the way that we expected, however the reserves had a good win. The A Grade let themselves down, and even
though we played poorly we were within 9 points with 12 minutes to go. Under the watchful eye of Dave Hamdorf the Club has
been training since before xmas but Saturday showed that we still have room for improvement with many skill errors.
Its not all gloom as we have a very good and even group of players to pick from and I expect a much better effort in Round 2.
Several players showed on Saturday that they will be in for a good season. Lee (eel) Hughes had a very good first up game for the
club while Kingy, Justin Platten and Strings showed signs of things to come. The point that I stressed to the players after the game
was that the lack of accountability contributed to our loss. With many new players in the side, as we work more together the better
we will become. Football is a great game and we learn from the past and get on with the next quarter. Go Eagles.
Wayne Hughes
From the B Grade coach...
The B Grade gave a consistent effort all game against Central United, which helped us to a good win.
A special mention goes to a couple of the young guys, Ben Taylor and Kyle Young, for their good contributions.
The backlines as a whole also deserve a mention as they held up well all day. The year ahead looks very promising
with our large player base. This is why guys who want to play must train.
We have a lot of depth which makes it hard at every selection.

Elizabeth played Salisbury at Salisbury Oval on Saturday 31st March. The B's had another good hit out against a side that won the Division 3 Reserves premiership last year. The A's were very competitive for the entire four quarters losing by just a couple of goals. It was a very encouraging performance against opposition in a higher division, especially given the lack of a number of key players.
Congratulations to Matt Switala on retaining the captaincy of the club and to Justin Platten on being named vice captain.
Elizabeth played Kersbrook at Kersbrook on Friday 23rd March. The B's had a very good hitout in tough conditions. The A's were jumped 6 goals to none in the first quarter before a much closer contest particularly in the second half. Kersbrook looked a very good outfit showing impressive skills despite the wet conditions. Final scores were Elizabeth 2.1(13) to Kersbrook 10.10(70)

Congratulations to both winners of the senior best and fairest awards for 2007. Justin is an Elizabeth Eagle through and through, and is a deserved winner of the A grade award. Matt Gunston, the captain of the B grade, led from the front all year and was also a well deserved winner. All that is left now is for him to captain a premiership side!
Congratulations also to Blake Pearce and Matt Gunston on coming second and third in the association medal count. The consistency of both players just about made it impossible for either to win as they fought each other for votes but it is a fine effort for two players from the same side to poll so well.Well done lads!
2006
Congratulations to the 2006 best & fairest winners: Ben Halliday (A Grade), Damien Quirk (B Grade) and Adrian Daly (C Grade)
After winning the premiership in 2005 the A and B Grades were promoted to Division 5 for the 2006 season. Both sides made the finals, with the A Grade losing the preliminary final to Mitcham and the B Grade losing the elimination final. The C Grade was elevated to Division 8R and performed admirably with some fine wins.
One of the highlights of the season was a win in the local derby against Smithfield, the first time Elizabeth had beaten their rival in 10 years.
2005
2005 was a fantastic year for the club with both the A and B Grade sides taking out the premiership. The A Grade lost just one game for the year and in one game kicked an amatuer league record score of 70.30 (450), including 22 goals in the second quarter alone.
